0:00 THE STORY OF THE CROSS I HEARD

0:14 And straight pilgrim I became,

0:16 through all the world to seek my Lord,

0:19 to bind for him

0:20 with loving bands his wounded feet in

0:23 bleeding hands.

0:25 I found him not on land or sea,

0:27 not in Jerusalem or Rome,

0:30 and wrinkled age had come to me, when

0:33 worn and sad I sought my home.

0:37 I had not bound with loving bands his wounded

0:41 feet in bleeding hands.

0:43 Then in a quiet hour I heard,

0:46 plain as a whisper in the ear,

0:49 I am thy ever-present Lord,

0:52 why seek for me lo, I am here.

0:56 Who doth what my word commands hath kissed my

0:59 feet and touched my hands?

1:01 Who giveth to the starving bread,

1:04 who stays the steps of wayward youth,

1:07 who raises up

1:08 the sorrowing head, and best of all,

1:11 who spreads the truth?

1:12 He binds for me with loving bands my wounded

1:17 feet and the bleeding hands.
