April

0:00 April half-clad in flowers and showers,

0:03 walks like a blossom over the land,

0:07 she smiles at me and laughing takes,

0:10 the rain and sunshine hand in hand,

0:13 so gay the dancing of her feet,

0:15 so like a garden her soft breath,

0:19 so sweet the smile upon her face,

0:22 she charms the very heart of death,

0:26 the young moon in a trance she holds,

0:29 captive in clouds of orchard bloom,

0:32 she snaps her fingers at the grave and laughs

0:36 into the face of doom,

0:38 yet in her gladness lurks a fear,

0:41 in all her mirth there breathes a sigh,

0:45 so soon her pretty flowers are gone, and ah,

0:49 she is too young to die.
